In The Beginning

The building was built in the 1960's and served as a furniture store until it was converted into a mortuary. Taylor and Smock Furniture operated in the building until the Godby family purchased it in the early 1990's.

In August of 2007, John Leppert and Matt Drury began converting the Godby Furniture store into what would become the Drury & Leppert Mortuary. The 14,400 square foot building was completely remodeled, and a 114-space parking lot was added. Our building is designed with an emphasis on handicap accessibility, especially in our large restrooms. 

We opened for business in March of 2008 with the hope and a prayer that our dream to provide service to our community would thrive. Eighteen years later, we are truly blessed by all of the love, support, and trust that has been placed in us. 

H. "Red" Strawmyer wanted to secure the future of the business by purchasing it in 2010, changing the name to Strawmyer and Drury. Mr. Strawmyer owned it until Matt Drury purchased it from him in 2011; he passed away in 2022.
