Wilma Cowell, 100, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Crown Pointe of Lebanon surrounded by her family. She was born May 11, 1925, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Glen and Pearl (Kirby) Jackson.
Wilma graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1943, and had then worked as a secretary for Indiana Bell for 35 years. She enjoyed playing Bridge, as well as caring for the elderly. Wilma was a Pink Lady at Highlands Hospital and volunteered with Feeding the Hungry in Tampa Bay, Florida. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Placid in Lake Placid, Florida.
Survivors include her son, Gary Meenach; grandchildren, Tonya Gudell, Lee Meenach, Kristy Cole, Cory Meenach, and Brittney Meenach; sister, Phyllis Stewart; she is also survived by 10 great grandchildren including Linsey Flick and Kyle Dagley and several great -great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Cowell, and brothers, Donald, Herschel, and Merle Jackson.
Family and friends will gather Sunday, June 22, for visitation from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 23 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Wilma will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
