William "Bill" Wayne Zimmerman 75, of Lebanon, died October 18, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Bill was born July 5, 1947, in Lebanon, a son of the late Harold Wayne and Betty Lou (Good) Zimmerman. He married Dixie Lee Chanley on March 11, 1966, she survives.

His first employment was Boone REMC, Lebanon until he opened his own business, Boone County Electric in Lebanon in 1974. He owned and operated the business for 32 years.  He worked for Houston Electric, retiring in 2018.  Working was a hobby for him, not just a job.

Bill was a man of his faith and foremost his dedication to his wife, children, family and his community where he was a member of Lebanon Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie; son, Jeffrey Allen (Barbara) Zimmerman of Zionsville; brothers, Phil (Jean) Zimmerman of New Ross and Doug (Maureen) Zimmerman of Noblesville; grandchildren, Christian Michael (Molly) Zimmerman, Shannon Kay (Austin) Chandler, Ethan David Zimmerman, Bailee Marie Zimmerman, Brenna Jo Zimmerman and Kye Jeffrey Zimmerman; great grandson, Shepherd Scott Chandler and many nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind a large extended family and many that he referred to as his adopted family: Rusty & Jody Solmon and children, Sara, Ray and Ryan; Tony & Jessica Montgomery and children, Ashlyn, Brooke and Hallie; Jay & Connie Funk and children, Kelsie, Kenze and Trevor; Jeff Funk, Lisa Bruder and children, Kara and Nate; Mike & Nell McMillion and children, Michael and Tiffany; Steve & Terri Jones and children, Parker and Sabre; Cindy & Kevin Marshall and children Michael, Trevor, Gavin and Sydni.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by daughter, Amy Elizabeth Zimmerman, sons, Michael Wayne Zimmerman and Stephen Lee Zimmerman.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, October 23, for visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Christian Church, 610 West 250 North, Lebanon. The funeral service will be Monday, Oct. 24, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lebanon Christian Church. Bill will be laid to rest at Old Union cemetery in Jamestown. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Lebanon Christian Church.
