Mr. William R. Engledow, 91, of Lebanon, passed away September 1, 2017, at his home in Lebanon.
William was born on May 16, 1926, in Boone County, IN, the son of the late William M. and Lottie Lu (Scott) Engledow. He married Joanne Yohler in Indianapolis on May 15, 1949. She survives.
William graduated from Whitestown High School. He served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946, where he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. William worked for Dow Chemical Company as a laboratory technician for 40 years.
William was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon. He sponsored NYF at the Whitestown Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and sports.
Survivors include his wife Joanne Engledow of Lebanon; his son Larry Lee Engledow of Huntsville, AL; his daughter Randy Lynn Phillips of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren Danette Harmon, William Harmon, Jessica McCann, Nicolas Engledow,Christopher Engledow, and Kirk Wise. William was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, September 5, 2017, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. with Pastor David Wright officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. William will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
