Veta Rose Vanderpool, of Lebanon, died Monday, Apr. 4, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

Veta was born in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Arthur and Marian (Forey) Bauman. She married Marion Luther Vanderpool on Apr. 27, 1968. He survives.

Veta enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor home from coast to coast, showing their dogs. She was a member of the American Kennel club, raising and showing Chihuahuas. In 1998 she won the West Minster show for her long haired chihuahuas. She also enjoyed attending her grandkids' sporting events.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Marion; sons, Richard Butcher of Lebanon and Michael (Lisa) Vanderpool of Lebanon; daughters, Sandy K. Hobson of Lebanon and Sally Barton (David Herrmann) of Lebanon; brother, Arthur "Sonny" (Nancy) Bauman of Greencastle; grandchildren, Taylor (Jason) Smith-Vanderpool of Kokomo, Dustin (Ashley) Barton of Danville, Matthew (Jessie) Barton of Zionsville, Tyler (Katie) Barton of AZ, Kim (Marc) Richwine of Lebanon, Stephanie (Ed) Kortman of Mechanicsburg, Joshua (Maree) Hobson of Thorntown, Lisa Butcher, Danny Butcher, Crissy Cole, Richard Butcher, Shawna (Brandon) Leier; and 17 great grandchildren.

Veta was preceded in death by sister, Gloria Partlow; great granddaughter, Carlie Kortman; and son-in-law, Michael Hobson.

Family and friends will gather Friday, Apr. 8, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Veta will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
