Shirley Carnes, 89, of Lebanon, died August 20, 2025 at her residence.  She was born April 19, 1936 in Wabash County, Illinois; a daughter of the late Brison Everett and Hazel Marie (Doty) Dodson.  Shirley graduated from the Mt. Carmel High School in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and worked as a bookkeeper for the Towsley Bixler Construction Company in Indianapolis for many years until her retirement.  On December 28, 1971 Shirley married Glen Carnes, he preceded her in death.

Shirley was a member of the Park Street Church of Christ in Lebanon and enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing games.

Survivors include her siblings, James (Karen) Dodson, Ron (Sue) Dodson and Sarah Bailey; nieces and nephews, Mike (Janelle) Dodson, Deanna (Lanny) Case, Lynn (Randy) Hobson, Jennifer (Craig) Newton and Susan (David) Eldridge; many great and great-great nieces and nephew.  She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, James Bailey.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, August 28 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of her funeral service at 4:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer and Drury Mortuary, 2400 N.
