Mrs. Sharon Gillan, 77, of Thorntown, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2021.

Sharon was born July 15, 1943 in Thorntown to the late Harry and Evelyn (Joseph) Bowen. She was married to John Gillan, he died on March 10, 2021.

Sharon was a graduate of Thorntown High School. She worked for Deluxe Check Printing in Indianapolis for 30 years.  After retiring, Sharon loved her new part-time job at Country Gardens with best friends Gene & Peggy Poe.

Sharon absolutely loved her family, friends, church and community. Sharon was an active member of Thorntown Christian Church and Thorntown Kiwanis.  She also enjoyed supporting Western Boone schools and sports teams, doing various crafts and watching the Indianapolis Colts.

Survivors include her children Doug Merrill of Thorntown, Jodie Merrill (Mary Helen Atkins) of Denton, NC, Kristine (Don) Barnes of Thorntown, Patrick Gillan of Crawfordsville, Matthew Gillan of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, J.R. (Lyndsay) Merrill, Miriah Merrill, Houston (Emily) Phillips, Hannah Phillips, Hunter Phillips, Jake Barnes, Emily (Josh) Hollums and Courtney Barnes; great-grandchildren, Gryson Louks, Addalynn Louks, Ryker Louks and Brooks Hollums; brothers, Jim Bowen of Thorntown and Terry Bowen of Pennsylvania; nieces: Teresa (Robert) Burtner, Kim (Kevin) Lough, and Roberta (Tim) Caldwell; and nephew, Bob (Anita) Bowen.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, March 17 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Glen Jewell officiating in the Thorntown Christian Church, 125 W.
