Obituary

Patti " Ruth" Hungate, 86, of Lebanon, passed away April 27, 2017 at Witham Memorial Hospital.

Ruth was born on May 19, 1930, in Middleton KY, the daughter of the late Mildred (Tatchell) and John F Graves Jr.

Ruth graduated from Carmel High School in 1948 as salutatorian and then attended Indiana University. She married Edward R Hungate in 1949 and started her large family.

One of Ruth's first job in Lebanon was working for Cleo Smith as a secretary. She worked out of a model home in a subdivision which is now known as Chadwick. She then went to work for many years for Sen. Keith McCormick at his insurance company that is now known as Jackson-McCormick Insurance Co.

For many people who knew Ruth, they know that she cherished her five children. She was the "Kool -Aid" mom on Grant St. and with five children "you end up getting their friends" so our home was always filled with kids!

Ruth enjoyed playing Bridge at Live Oak Resort and Ulen Country Club where she also played golf and had a hole-in-one! She was a member of the Lady Elks, Red Hats, Good Sam's, Tri Kappa, and Centenary United Methodist Church. She loved baseball and her Yankees! She was a great Little League Mom too!

Survivors include sons Mark (Kris) Hungate and Steve (Sheryl) Hungate, both of FL, Cary (Lori) Hungate of Kokomo , Eric (Angela) Hungate of Noblesville, and daughter, Cathy (Dave) Winteregg, of Lebanon; grandchildren: Randi (Chris) Brown, Ryan (Lauren) Hungate, Elise (Jeremy) Hodges, Katherine (Grady) Randall, Tara(Mike) Tresslar, Kayla Hungate, Seth Hungate, Zach Hungate, Victoria (Gio) Menale, Jillian Hungate, Alyson Graham, Taylor Graham, Alexis Hungate, Hannah Hungate, and Coley Hungate; great-grandchildren: Cooper, Addy, Reed, JoJo, Greyson, Sienna, and Greer; and a brother John F. (Annette) Graves, III of Maryland. She was a loving grandma and wonderful mom.

Ruth was preceded in death by husbands, Edward R Hungate, Dave Reed, and Doug Witherell, and a grandson Adam W Foster.
