Ruth Imogene Edens, 90, of Whitestown, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born March 8, 1935, in Whitestown, a daughter of the late Earl and Mandy Opal Byrkett.
A lifelong resident of Whitestown, Imogene was a devoted member of St. Marks Lutheran Church. Her family was the center of her life, and she especially loved cheering on her grandchildren at their ball games. She also enjoyed playing BINGO and never missed her favorite soap operas.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Manning; sons, Earl Hines and Dennis (Shirley) Hines; step-children, Tammy Allen, Joni Cox, Johnna (John) Galvan, John Edens, Jr. (Crissi), Annette (Mike) Wamsley, and Christopher Kyle (Mary) Malattere; grandchildren, Conway (Patty) Manning, Stephen Manning, Mandy Franks, Jonathon Lahne, Paula (Troy) Blankenship, Chris (Ronna) Gordon, Robert Hines, and Holly Hines; nephew, C.D. Smith; daughter-in-law, Ruth Hedge; former husband, Lyle Gordon, along with several great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Hines and John Edens, Sr.; companion, Marvin Trent; son, Garry Gordon; son-in-law, Kenny Manning; step-son-in-law, Steve Allen; and sisters, Cora Mae Riddle and Maxine Smith.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the police and fire department for their special service and care.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, September 18, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Greg Albert officiating, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Imogene will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
