Rita Jan Shirley, 68, of Lebanon, passed away June 24, 2018, at Homewood Health Campus.

Rita was born Aug. 27, 1949 in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Arthur "Bill" and Virginia (Click) Shirley.

Rita was a graduate of Lebanon High School and Franklin College. She taught school in Charleston, WV for 18 years and retired after 11 years from the Lebanon Community School Corp. and Western Boone School Corp.  She was a member of the Sigma Delta Pi Eta Chapter.

Survivors include her brother, Randy (Connie) Shirley of Lebanon and sisters, Lisabeth (Chris) Stachowiak of Lake Zurich, IL and Pennie (Curt) Miller of Pearl City, IL; nieces: Samantha (Alex) Loeb of Lynnwood, WA and Mollie (Tyler Clay) Miller of Kirkland, WA; nephews: Michael Shirley and Dustin (Haley) Shirley of Lebanon and William Miller of Duluth, GA., Terry (Anna) Taylor of Jackson, NC and Bobby (Jana) Taylor, Jr. of Thorntown; great-niece Anniston Shirley; great-nephews Lukas, Gunner, and Harrison Shirley; Robby, Ryan, Cole, Caleb and Logan Taylor.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, June 28, 2018 for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and services will be held on Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tom Evans officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Rita will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
