Obituary

Rey Cruz Orosco, 74, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Rey was born January 6, 1947, in Pharr, TX, a son of Noemi (De LaRosa) Orosco and the late Cruz Orosco.

Rey worked at Allison Transmission, and then went on to work for Rolls Royce, retiring in 2007 after 39 years. Rey loved fishing and golfing. His friends were especially important to him, and he enjoyed spending many summers with them at Raccoon Lake. Rey was always supporting his grandchildren in all their endeavors, and spent many years coaching for the Lebanon Youth Football League.  Rey also spent 44 years as a wrestling official, traveling all over the state of Indiana officiating middle school and high school wrestling meets and tournaments.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Orosco of Lebanon; mother, Noemi Orosco of Lebanon; sons, David (Becky) Grider of Westport and Rob Grider of Fort Smith, AK; daughters, Veronica (Ken) Tubbs of Lebanon and Libby (Jeff) Reese of Lebanon; brother, Reynaldo Orosco of Advance; sisters, Becky (David) Hawkins of Lebanon, Diana (Dennis) Flaugher of Lebanon, Diamantina (Diamond) (Phil) Vidito of Indianapolis, and Maria (Keith) Neese of Lebanon; grandchildren, Patrick and Lucy Tubbs, Emma, Tilden, and Margie Grider, Ryan (Madison Morton) Reese, and Michael Reese; great-granddaughter, Ava Lynn Reese; the mother of his children, Linda Schenck; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Rey was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Debbie Orosco.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, August 8, for visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Lebanon Youth Football League, PO Box 415, Lebanon, IN 46052.
