Phyllis Jean Hancock Hays, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 at Best Care Senior Living in Punta Gorda, FL.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1938 in rural Jamestown, IN. She was raised by her father and step mother, Milburn & Mary Catherine Hancock.

Phyllis was a graduate of Zionsville High School in Zionsville, IN in 1956. She married Jack Hays and they continued in his family outdoor amusement business with food concessions. They did this until their retirement. They were married 45 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Jene' (Tom) Marts of Punta Gorda, FL, two granddaughters, Katie (Zach) Morgan of Moulton, IA and Haley Marts of Punta Gorda, FL and three great grandchildren, Zoie Morgan, Mia Morgan and Jack Marts; along with step sisters, Norma Clements & Sandra Sharp

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Milburn & Mary Catherine Hancock and her father and mother-in-law, Clifford & Mildred Lapham.

A visitation for both Jack & Jean will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon at 12 noon until 2 pm. Burial to follow at Old Union Cemetery.
