Peter Sankowsky, III, of Darlington, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024. He was born February 8, 1976, in Indianapolis, a son of the late Peter Sankowsky, II and Kathleen (McDowell) Sankowsky. Pete married Gabrielle Willhoite on August 28, 2019 but they have been together since December 2009, and she survives and they have two young boys together, Michael and Lukas.

Pete attended North Central High School. He had worked for Stalcop Metal Forming in Thorntown. More than anything, Pete loved spending time with his wife and sons, especially outdoors going creek stomping and fishing. He loved camping with his son, Michael, and having campfires. Pete also enjoyed woodworking and had just made a dining room table from old barnwood on their farm. He loved his dogs, Buddy and Holly, along with his four chickens.

Survivors include his loving wife, Gabrielle Sankowsky; sons, Michael James and Lukas Alexander Sankowsky; brother, Eric (Katie) Sherwood; sister, Rachel Sherwood; uncle, Jim McDowell; mother-and father-in-law, Margaret and Robert Rhinehart; brothers-in-law, Zach (Stephanie) Willhoite and Shawn Rhinehart; sister-in-law, April Rhinehart; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his great grandpa Sankowsky and sister-in-law, Franchesca Willhoite.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, September 12, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Pete will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
