Obituary

Norma Eilene Moore, 95, of Lebanon, IN passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 7, 2017, at her Crown Pointe apartment in Lebanon.

Norma was born on August 5, 1921, in Lebanon, IN to John Martin Wild and Linnie Edith (Baldwin) Wild. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1939 and married Meredith "Skid" Moore on January 27, 1943. They were married for 63 years before his death in 2006.

After graduating from high school, Norma worked in the high school library and for the Boone County REMC. Norma and "Skid" then spent 15 years in South Bend before returning to Lebanon in 1961. Back in Lebanon, she worked for Dr. Paul R. Honan and then for the Western Insurance Company until retiring in 1981.

Throughout her life, Norma was a devout Methodist. She was baptized in the Centenary Methodist Church in Lebanon in 1921, was a past member of the First Methodist Church in South Bend and the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lebanon, and was currently a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. She was very active in the United Methodist Women and Circle groups at those churches, and the weekly Bible Study group at Crown Pointe.

She was also a member of the Book Club and Thursday Bridge Club, volunteered at the Lebanon Library and Witham Hospital, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, baking, fresh flowers, and collecting sea shells during walks on the beach. In her later years, she loved playing bingo with her Crown Pointe friends, working puzzles and knitting baby hats for Witham Hospital newborns.

Norma is survived by her daughter Susan Elaine (Moore) Yazel and her husband Larry Alan of LaPorte, IN; son Larry Meredith Moore and his wife Anne Elizabeth (Hutchinson) of Columbus, IN; grandson Michael Alan Moore and his wife Kathryn Jean (Brothers) and great-grandsons Jeffrey Bernard, William Meredith and James Gray Moore all of Golden, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Kenneth Wild, George Meredith Wild and John Wild Jr.; and her sister, Mary Katherine (Wild) Laflin.

Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her family and friends always came first. She never expected anything in return for her kindness. Her smile lit up the room, and her laughter and sense of humor were infectious to all who met her. She worked hard for everything she had, yet she gave generously, and instilled that same work ethic and charitable spirit in her children.

She struggled with numerous health issues in recent years, but she bravely endured until God had a room ready for her in Heaven. She was an inspiration to all and will be missed by her family, her friends and those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon with the Rev. Arch Hawkins presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 noon at the church preceding the services. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

The family requests that contributions in Norma's memory be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 910 E. Fordice Road, Lebanon, IN 46052.

Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
