Noemi De La Rosa Orosco, 97 of Lebanon died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at her resident with family by her side.

Noemi was born April 19, 1925, in Robstown, Texas, a daughter of the late Margarito and Eluteria (Martinez) De La Rosa.  She married the love of her life, the late, Cruz Segovia Orosco at the Justice of the Peace in Edinburg, Texas, on May 13, 1946 and they later moved to Pharr, Texas.

Noemi and her family migrated back and forth to Indiana in the late 1950s when Noemi told her husband that she did not want to move anymore and wanted to settle with her family in Lebanon, Indiana.  They had a difficult time finding a home that would rent to them with 5 children.  A home was finally found in Lebanon, Indiana.  She worked several years cleaning houses and worked at Commercial Filters.  She later quit and joined her husband selling tomatoes in front of her house in Lebanon.  Noemi and her husband built a fruit and vegetable stand which was known as Orosco's Fruit and Vegetable Stand.  After the death of her husband she continued the business with her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Hawkins.  She later sold the business to her daughter and later renamed it "Becky's Market which is known for having the best flowers and produce in the summer, mums and pumpkins in the fall and wreaths and Christmas trees in the winter celebrating 53 years.

You could always find Noemi watering the flowers or cleaning them so they would look their best around the market.  You could also find her sitting on her swing waiting for someone that she could have a conversation with.

Noemi was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, always enjoying cooking for all her children and especially her grandchildren with the best tortillas and their favorite Mexican dishes.  She was a member of the Christian Life Church and had a strong faith in God.

Survivors include her daughters, Diana (Dennis) Flaugher, of Lebanon,   Rebecca (David) Hawkins of Lebanon, Diamantina (Phil) Vidito) of Indianapolis,, Maria (Keith) Neese of Lebanon, son, Reynaldo (Debbie) Orosco of Jamestown; sisters Eunice De La Rosa of West Palm Beach, Florida, Rosa De La Rosa of Lebanon and Graciela de la Rosa of Nineveh, Indiana; brothers Juan (Lupita) De La Rosa of Pharr, Texas, Julian (Cathy) De La Rosa of Lebanon, Indiana,  Esequiel De La Rosa of Nineveh, Indiana, Raul (Cassandra) de la Rosa of Olympia, Washington, and Arturo de la Rosa of Indianapolis, Indiana; 14 Grandchildren, 29 Great-Grandchildren and 15 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Noemi is preceded in death by her parents and husband; son, Reyes Cruz (Cheryl) Orosco, brothers, Miqueas (Mike) De La Rosa, Reuben De La Rosa, Margarito De La Rosa, and J. De La Rosa; sisters Dorcas De La Rosa, Rebecca De La Rosa, and Raquel De La Rosa Teran Rocha; great-granddaughter, Keisha Lee Anderson Orosco.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, January 4, 2022 for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.  Noemi will be laid to rest at Oak Hill cemetery in Lebanon.
