Mrs. Mary Bonwell, 90, of Darlington, IN, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2019.
Mary was born Apr. 22, 1929, in Brazil, IN, a daughter of the late Clarence Arvil and Mellie Elizabeth (Tipton) Wools. She married Roy Lea Bonwell on Apr. 22, 1948. He survives.
Mary and Roy previously lived in Indianapolis, then moving to Franklin. They later settled in Thorntown/ Darlington in 1965. Mary was a prayer warrior for her family and friends, which she loved very dearly. She loved gardening and flowers, along with reading the Bible and camping. Mary was a homemaker extraordinaire. She also taught Sunday School for 30 years. Mary loved to play the piano and organ and was able to play by ear.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Bonwell of Darlington; children, William Ralph (Deb) Bonwell, Mary Martha Isenhower, Rebecca Joan (Richard) Slyker, Timothy John (Melanie) Bonwell, Kathaleen Sue (Devon) Clawson, and Mark Andrew (Tobie) Bonwell; nieces, Ken Lynn (Cookie) Stone, Candy S. Wagner, and Jacqueline Bowling; 21 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Robert Wools, William Edwin Wools ("Clarence Robert Stone"), Roy Maurice Wools, and Eugene Jewel Wools; son-in-law, Danny Lee Isenhower; and niece, Susie Mouser
Family and friends will gather Tues., May 14, 2019, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Darlington Congregational Christian Church, 101 Academy Street, Darlington, IN 47940. Funeral services will be held on Wed., May 15, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Seth Stultz officiating in the church. Mary will be laid to rest at Washington Park North in Indianapolis. Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, Lebanon, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
