Mrs. Martha Virginia Daggy, 95, of Monticello, formerly of Thorntown, peacefully passed away Monday, December 30, 2024, at White Oak Health, Monticello, surrounded by family. She was born September 6, 1929, in Linden, IN, daughter of the late Harrison and Hattie (McDowell) Crabtree.  Martha married Robert Daggy on April 27, 1948, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Virginia graduated from Thorntown High School, where she met her husband, Robert.  Robert and Virginia operated their family farm near Thorntown.  She was also Secretary-Treasurer of Thorntown High School, Supervisor of Sales Promotion at Shumate Business Forms, and was a talented artist who gave art lessons at her home studio and displayed her artwork at her "Art from the Heart Studio" at the Sugar Creek Art Center.  She owned "The Cottage on Pearl," selling her artwork, antiques and collectibles along with a restaurant run by her daughter Patricia and husband Robert Gillogly.  She also loved to write short stories, poems, and recently completed her life history story.  She was member of the Thorntown Presbyterian Church, loved music and sang in the church choir and several choral groups through the years, including the Boone County Home Ec. Chorus and several community choirs.  She enjoyed traveling, along with spending winters in Naples, FL and summers at Raccoon Lake and Rocky Fork Lake in Parke County, where she enjoyed time with family and friends and fishing.

Survivors include her daughters Debra (Mike) Rich of Monticello and Patricia Gillogly (Shaun) Hatchett of Thorntown, grandchild Travis (Gwen) Rich, and great-grandchild Hayden Rich of Plainfield.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ginny was preceded in death by her brothers Ervin Crabtree (Elkhart), Roy Crabtree (Linden), and son-in-law, Robert Gillogly (Thorntown).

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, January 8, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
