Mrs. Margery J. Reeves, 91, of Thorntown, died Saturday, Apr. 30, 2022, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.
Margery was born Jun. 27, 1930, at home in Boone County, a daughter of the late Lee Brant and Mary Jane "Jennie" (Reddick) Galvin. She married Harold E. Reeves on Mar. 12, 1950. They were married 63 years, until he preceded her in death Jun. 30, 2013.
Margery worked in the cafeteria at Thorntown High School for 18 years. She enjoyed collecting dolls, along with dishes and antiques. Margery also enjoyed participating in the 4-H open show each year, winning "a lot of big purple ribbons" for her pies. She was a longtime member of the Thorntown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Leroy Reeves of Thorntown, Jane (Phil) Emens of Frankfort, Joan (Byron) Horine of Tuttle, OK, Nancy (Jay) Gyger of Lebanon, and Wayne "Lonzo" Reeves of Thorntown; grandchildren, Chastity Jones, Anita (Greg) Lowery, Rachelle Emens, Jason (Angela) Horine, Doug Horine, Justin Gyger, Jake (Karlie) Gyger, Jenny Gyger, and Shannon (John) Riegle; great grandchildren, Cayden Jones, Rebecca and Reanna Lowery, Aliya and Audrey Horine, Maddison Gyger, McKenna, Olivia, and McKinnley Riegle, and Elijah Gyger; sisters-in-law, Delores Galvin of Lebanon and Karen Galvin of TN; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margery was preceded in death by her siblings, Fred (Faye) Galvin, Keith (May) Galvin, Phillip "Butch" (Maryanna) Galvin, Mary Ellen (Bill) Marshall, Bob (Marjorie) Galvin, Floyd Galvin, Verlin Galvin, Morris (Margaret) Galvin, and Leslie Galvin.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, May 7, for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jason Horine officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Margery will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
