Margaret Davis Whitehead, born Margaret Parr Davis, was born October 15, 1934.  Margi was a beautiful mind and wonderful mother.  She was raised by J. Cabe and Thelma Davis, along with her sisters Elizabeth Nicholson Davis and Ellen Harmon Davis.  J. Cabe was a business owner in Lebanon, Indiana, and as Margaret grew up, courted by her future husband Jim Whitehead, it was not uncommon for Cabe to roll up the carpet and free the hardwood floors for everyone to dance, to LP records – probably 78s – on the turn-table.  She grew up in a house where she and others played piano, read books, and learned culinary arts well enough that they could have run a bed and breakfast or a restaurant.  She and her boyfriend Jim went to the same middle school and high school and they both attended Purdue University, where Margaret studied education, with a specialty in what at that time was called "special education."  After marrying, she put her degree to use as a teacher in Virginia while Jim finished out his stint as a Lieutenant in the United States Army.  After that they returned to Indiana.  Her first daughter, Ellen Davis Whitehead, was born in their hometown of Lebanon.  They moved to Peoria, Illinois, shortly after, where their second child, James Thomas Whitehead, Jr., was born.  After a short return to Indiana, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where her twin children Mary Parr Whitehead, and William Caleb Whitehead, were born.  Margaret was a beautiful mind.  Her books on her shelves have worn pages and broken spines.  They were not for show.  She read them.  Hundreds and hundreds of them, and she maintained an intellectual curiosity throughout her entire life.  She is survived by one sister, Ellen Harmon Davis, four children – Ellen Reising, (and son in law Steve), J.T. Whitehead, Mary Parr, and William Whitehead (and daughter in law Julie).  She is also survived by ten grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy, and one great-grand child, thanks to her oldest child Ellen and her oldest grandchild Alicia.  Margi's grandchildren will love her forever and they include: Alicia, Mary Martha, Adam, Davis, Alex, Julia, Caroline, Allysa, Daniel, and Joseph. Jim and Margi had grandchildren by every means known to humankind except test-tube baby, and even if one was born in a lab, Margi would have had their name on the bracelet she wore on her wrist every day, the one with all of their names on it.  Margi's one great-grandchild, Allie Mae, may have never known her, but will surely learn about her and know that she would have loved her.  Everyone she touched will miss her forever, or until they meet her again, if so lucky.  She was Saintly.  Truly.
