Mrs. Lena Hensley, 81, of Thorntown, passed away July 20, 2017, at Parkwood in Lebanon.

Lena was born on Dec. 12, 1935, in Harlan, KY, the daughter of the late Byrd and Cindy (Shope) Blanton. She was married to Wright Hensley. He passed away in May.

Lena worked for Best Lock Corp. as a production associate. She loved decorating and cooking; she was a true "Southern Bell". Her family and church family were very important to her.

Survivors include her sons Leon (Amy) Hensley of Thorntown and Melvin (Debbie) Hensley of Martinsville; her brother Jack Blanton of Middletown, IN; her sisters Mary (E.B.) Mulligan of Lexington, KY , Jean (Bill) Gibson of VA , Berdina ( the late George) Hensley , Sheri (Stanley) Smith, Brenda Rouse of Lexington KY, Gail (Barry) Schraeder of Marietta, GA and Debbie (Ray) Hollets of Nashville, TN; her grandchildren Daniel Hensley, Crystal (Tommy) Lohman, Allyson Hensley, Brittany Hensley, and Andrew Hensley; and her great-grandchild Sage Rose Hensley. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Harry Blanton and infant son Stanley Raymond Hensley.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, July 23, 2017 for visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m. with Pastor Steve Branstutter officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Lena will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
