Mr. Larry T. Padgett, 81, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Jul. 2, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Lebanon, a son of the late Clifford Ivan and Julia Francis (Moore) Padgett. He married Rita Lane on Nov. 10, 1973, and she survives.
Larry graduated from Sheridan High School with the class of 1961. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1966, where he was stationed on two 18- month Mediterranean cruises, with Ports in Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, and Greece. Larry worked as a Press Prep Operator for the Reynolds & Reynolds Printing Company.
Larry loved spending time with his family and any spare moment he had was spent with his grandchildren. He never missed any of their sporting events or extracurricular activities. Larry was a faithful member of the Advance Community Christian Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club and enjoyed going on outings with the Christian Crusaders Sunday school class. He also enjoyed watching classic movies and Westerns.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rita Padgett of Lebanon; daughters, Lisa (Robert) Wirey of Lebanon and Belinda (Brian) Sparks of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Ben) Faust, Alex Wirey, Madison Wirey, Lindsey Sparks, Aidan Sparks, and Landon Sparks; great grandson, Jack Faust, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Roselle McKinney, Donna Biddle, and Mike Padgett.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, Jul. 8, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Advance Community Christian Church, 305 Main St., Advance, IN 46102. Larry will be laid to rest at Pisgah Cemetery in Montgomery County. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Advance Community Christian Church.
