Kirk Yates, 61, of Thorntown, passed away Saturday, Sep. 25, 2021, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.

Kirk was born Mar. 13, 1960, in Lebanon, a son of Rick and Patty (Evans) Yates. He married Barbara Bailey on July 2, 1988. She survives.

Kirk graduated from Western Boone with the class of 1978. He worked for Hendrickson's Trailer and Suspension for 18 years. Kirk loved his family dearly, and his girls and grandkids were his prized possessions; their family vacations to Dale Hollow for the past 38 years were especially important to him. Kirk also enjoyed drag racing at Bunker Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughters, Kari (Neil) Butler of Thorntown and Kassie (Colby) Price of Indianapolis; parents, Rick and Patty Yates of Thorntown; brothers, Jeff and Terry Yates both of Thorntown; sister, Chrissy Yates of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Ryan, Jaice, and Brendan Butler, and Kaia Price.

Kirk was preceded in death by a sister, Kimber Yates.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, Oct. 2, for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.  Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Kirk was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed by many.
