Mrs. Kathleen "Kathy" Budd, 81, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, Sep. 3, 2022, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.
Kathy was born Feb. 11, 1941, in Stockland, IL, a daughter of the late Otis and Geneva (Bender) German. She married Alvin David Budd on December 10, 1966 in Lafayette, Indiana; he preceded her in death Jun. 20, 2021.
Kathy had been employed at Witham Hospital and 4-H Extension. She was also a local business owner with Kathy Kay Shop @ Creations, Bears of Blessingville, and Bears in the Barn.
Kathy was involved in many Clubs, a few include: Cooking Club, Sewing Club, Magazine Club, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Bear Buddies of Indiana, Past President of Indiana Shorthorn Lassie Association, Past Chairman of Lassie Queen Association, served as Secretary to 4-H Club Inc., Back to the Fifties Festival, and participated in and judged many fashion revues.
Kathy was an avid seamstress, making clothes, embroidering, quilting, knitting, and making teddy bears (heirloom bears). She loved gardening and maintaining her flower beds. She had a competitive spirit, especially when it came to playing games like scrabble and bridge. During basketball season, she always cheered on the Boilermakers. She loved spending time with family and friends, as well as being involved in her community.
Survivors include her daughter, Gretchen (Reggie) Smith; stepson, Michael (Cheryl) Budd; grandchildren, Todd Alan (Makayla) Smith and Ashley (Kristopher) Knuth; great-grandson, Karter David Knuth and future great-grandson, Asher David Smith; and sister, Peggy Buck.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Allen Budd, five brothers, and one sister.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, Sep. 10, for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Boone County 4-H Foundation, 1300 E 100 S, Lebanon, Indiana 46052.
