Jana Mae Dunwoody, age 60, passed away peacefully July 5, 2021 due to her non alcoholic liver psoriasis and kidney failure. She was born March 12, 1961 in Hartford City, Indiana to Denton and Martha (Marty) Reff: both deceased. Jana was the youngest of three siblings: Paula (deceased) James (survives) and Nephew-brother: Kelly (survives). Jana spent her childhood in Blackford County, where she excelled in music, specifically Guitar. She played flute for her high school band. Jana then graduated from Blackford Senior High-school in 1979. She married her soul mate and devoted husband, Jefferson Charles Dunwoody,(survives) on January 23, 1988. Their love was always felt and seen when the two were together. They were more than husband and wife, they were best friends. She and JD traveled to Ohio, Indiana, Connecticut, and Hawaii while he was in the Navy.

The couple raised four children: Anastasia(Stacie)Fields (37) married to Daniel Fields , Brandy Maddox (36) engaged to Caesar Harris, Denise Kline (36), Thomas Dunwoody (30) engaged to Megan Eggert. Jana was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Jana's Mother-in-Law, Mary Kay (survives) was a great help in shaping how she ran her home and family. She especially loved her role as Nana to surviving grandchildren: Trenton (23), Daniel (19), Larissa (19),  Keira (15), Gavin (13), Olivia (9), Jaiden (9), Elliot (9), Kennrich (8), Emma (5), Braelen (4). She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and smile. She made friends everywhere she went. Her most epic friendship is that to her best friend Pam Glessner (survives). They became friends when Jana was 10 years old and both were learning to play the flute.

Jana received her Associates of Applied Science for Nursing from Lima Technical College in May 1999. She was a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Witham Memorial Hospital for many years until her illness would no longer allow it. She also held the title of Bereavement Counselor and Notary Republic. Her love for families and bringing life into the world became her passion. Jana was also a member of Lebanon Christian Church and played bass guitar for the worship team. She was known for her cooking and taught many "secret" recipes to her girls. Her children would say she makes the best hot tea! She liked sewing, camping trips to Holiday World, riding front seat on the coasters at Cedar Point, listening to the ocean waves crash on the rocks at her favorite spot in the world in Groton, CT, and lets not forget her joy of coloring and her many colored pencils!

Family and friends will gather, Saturday July 17, 2021 for her celebration of life from 11:00a.m. until 1:00p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN.
