James "Jay" Clede Randle, 77, of Jamestown, died Sunday, October 16, 2022 at University Hospital, Indianapolis.

Jay was born November 25, 1944, in Lebanon, the son of the late Orin and Mildred (Harvey) Randle. He was married to the love of his life, Linda Randle for 57 years.

Jay graduated from Pinnell High School with the class of 1963 and attended Indiana State University. He retired from Rolls Royce (Allisons) in Indianapolis, also working for Porter Funeral Home, Indiana Eye Specialists, and as the owner of Randles Baskets. He was a member of the Jamestown Christian Church as an elder, deacon and chair of the building project, as well as a 36-year charter member of the Jamestown Lions Club as President, District Governor and Eye Bank Treasurer. Jay was also a past Western Boone Jr. High Athletic Director.

Jay enjoyed coaching youth, elementary and 7 th grade basketball as well as refereeing games. He also coached little league baseball and was a Western Boone Band Booster President. He enjoyed working in the yard and with flowers, watching sports, coaching, and spending time with grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Linda, survivors include children, Julie (John) Thompson of Lizton and Doug (Kristi) Randle of Thorntown; brother, John (Sue) Randle; eight grandchildren, Cari (Brad) Sheehan, Jeremy (Jill) Thompson, Kayla (Alec) Ellsworth, Alexa Freeman, Garrett Freeman, Sam Freeman, Caleb Freeman and Cassie Freeman; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie Sheehan and Braedan Sheehan and future great grandchild, Eliana Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, October 20, 2022 for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jamestown Christian Church, 900 N Lebanon St, Jamestown. Funeral services will be Friday, October 21 at 11 a.m. in the church. Jay will be laid to rest at IOOF cemetery in Jamestown.
