Hubert "Red" Strawmyer, 92, of Lebanon passed away on Friday, November 4th, 2022.  He was born in Lebanon, IN on December 10, 1929, to the late Orval and Fairy (Essex) Strawmyer.  Surviving siblings include brother, Gene Strawmyer (Renie), Maxine Burtner (Delmer), and Patty Reece.

Red attended Whitestown High School before a long successful work history.  His work history includes owning/operating Strawmyer Appliance, selling real estate, agricultural sales, owning/operating Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, and a lifetime of farming.  Red was recognized with many awards throughout his careers.  He was an entrepreneur and was successful in everything he was involved with.

Red met the love of his life, Betty M (Baldwin) Strawmyer, and with only $4 to his name (giving $2 to the preacher to marry them), were married on December 31, 1946, living a successful lifetime in Boone County.  Betty preceded him in death May 16, 2009.   Red was a devoted family man and his family meant everything to him.  Children include Steve (Janice) Strawmyer, Thorntown, Debbie (Wade) Hoy, Ponte Verde, FL, Ed (Betty) Strawmyer, Lebanon, and Dan (Jennifer) Strawmyer, Lebanon/St. Petersburg, FL.  Grandchildren include Grant Strawmyer, Shelby Zellers, Jason (Jill) Craven, Jenni (Glenn) Cunningham, Travis Strawmyer, Jill (Jeff) Dale, Kimberly Galloway, Sean Strawmyer and Angie (Jake) Miller.  Great Grandchildren include Tia Strawmyer, Bailey Craven (Lauren), Tristan Craven, Jack Fortner, Cora Dale, Jordan Craven, Taylar Dale, Troy Craven, Kennedy Zellers, Morgan Craven, Josie Strawmyer, Kolby Dale, Marcus Fortner, Elliott Dale, Ben Fortner, Chase Galloway, Aaron Miller, Paige Galloway, Isabelle Miller, and Isaac Galloway.  Great-Great Grandchild Hailey King, and many nieces and nephews.

Red was the pillar of the Strawmyer family, a true example of hard work ethic, integrity, honesty and loyalty.  He was a man of God, known for his faith, generosity, a man of his word, and for his sense of humor.  His family referred to him as truly the strongest man they knew, with endless wisdom.  He loved his family fiercely, he persevered through life's roller coaster ride and had faith in Jesus.  His work ethic was truly like no other!  Even in his 90's you would find him doing things like he was 50. His mind was sharp as a tack and his wit was quick.  And we can't forget the delicious baked goods he'd make for his grandkids!

Red is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty, his brother, Franklin Strawmyer, brother-in-law, Fred Reece, and grandsons, Brent Craven and Brian Strawmyer.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 11am-3pm EST with Services at 3pm, on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN  46052.  Dr. Morris Jones will be officiating.  Red will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
