Gretchen Ann Riester, 79, of Lebanon, IN, passed away September 13, 2017, at Brentwood North Healthcare in Chicago.

Gretchen was born on August 18, 1938, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Harry and Louise (Fleischmann) Grothe. She married Vincent Jude Riester on July 15, 1961. Vincent passed away on September 27, 2010.

Gretchen worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis before becoming a mother. She was active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church for more than 20 years. Gretchen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her children Michele (Tim) Coyne of Glenview, IL, Marcee (Eric) Russell of Tacoma, WA, and Matt (Dawn) Riester of Carmel; her grandchildren Nicholas, Emily, and Isaac Russell, and Christopher and Elizabeth Riester; her brothers Robert (Pauline) Grothe and Richard (Jan) Grothe; and her sisters-in-law Sharon (Steve) Terry and Mary Agnes Riester. Gretchen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Vincent.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, September 23, 2017, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E. South Street, Lebanon, IN 46052. Gretchen will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.
