Mrs. Frances Hankins, 93, of Thorntown, passed away July 15, 2019 at Homewood Health Campus.

Frances was born Mar. 2, 1926, in Gueydan, LA, a daughter of the late Oscar and Adel (Broussard) Hungerford. She was married to Guy W. Hankins. He preceded her in death.

Frances was a homemaker. She loved cooking and baking for her family, introducing them to Cajun food. She also loved gardening and traveling all over the U.S. in their Airstream Trailer. Frances was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children: Charlotte (Rex) Graham of Pittsboro, Darlene (Don) Johnson of Thorntown, and Sherri (Mike) Mays of Pittsboro and Mike (Donna) Hankins of Thorntown; grandchildren: Michelle (Troy) Martin of Thorntown, Scott (Tammy) Johnson of Nashville, TN, Chris Hankins of Sheridan, Matt (fiancé Amy) Hankins of Thorntown, Ashley (fiancé Jared) Hankins of Charlestown, SC, Josie and Calista Mays of Pittsboro; great grandchildren: Alexa and Zack Martin, Conner and Caroline Johnson, and Allie, Alyssa and Rhiannon Hankins; and a sister, Margaret Ann Hutchinson of New Iberia, LA. In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by siblings: Genevieve Simon, Blanche Susong, and Inez Hungerford.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, July 18, 2019, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Glen Jewell officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Frances will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
