Obituary

Everett L. Newman, 81, passed away peacefully at his Thorntown home on Monday, April 12 th as his wife and daughters sang him into the glory of our Lord.  Born in Lebanon, IN on July 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Devore Lavere Newman and Mary Jane (Cochran) Newman.

A life long resident of Boone County, Everett graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957.  He married his sweetheart, Donna Sue (Warmoth) Newman on August 16, 1957.  They shared nearly 64 years together, raising and enjoying their three daughters, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren; who affectionately referred to him as Papaw.

Outside of a brief stint in retirement working on cash registers with a brother in Christ at Retail Business Systems, Everett spent most of his life working in the printing field beginning locally at Shumates, then at Indianapolis firms: JC Collins, Shephard Poorman Communications and until just a few years ago, Minute Print It in Lebanon.  After many years inside windowless production facilities, he loved his work at Minute Print It!   It gave him the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with new people every day as he made deliveries in and outside of Boone County.

An avid woodworker, he enjoyed working with and teaching his family members and their friends the art, and made his last doll bed for his newest great-granddaughter (at that time) in December 2020.  He loved and cherished his family, and was cherished in their hearts as well.

Everett was a faithful servant to our Lord and the church body, attending Park Street Church of Christ in Lebanon, where he also preached on occasion.

He battled multiple afflictions, surviving colon and other forms of cancer for over 21 years, leukemia, and other.  He endured all with his positive-prayerful attitude.

Everett is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Donna Sue (Warmoth) Newman, daughters, Rhonda (Dale) Minear, Trafalgar; Lisa (Gary) Galvin, Lebanon and Anita (Jeff) Wolfe, Lebanon.  Grandchildren: Jessy (Jason) Suttles, Franklin; Aaron (Karen) Galvin, Chino Hills, CA; Brian Galvin, Lebanon; Whitney (Caleb) Michalke, Lebanon; Matt (Bailey) Dean, Lebanon; Kelsey (Barrett) Davis, Lebanon; and Nate Wolfe, Indianapolis, and great-grandchildren: Seth Savage; Serenity Jewel; Danielle & Izzy Suttles; Carter, Halleigh, Ainsley, Briar & Ada Galvin; Arlen & Maris Michalke, Evelyn, Asher & Baird Davis; and Gatten & Breckin Dean. He is also survived by brother, Gerald (Donna L) Newman of Lebanon. Everett was preceded in death by grandchildren Adam Dean and Amy Minear, sister Rosalie (Newman) Wallace, and nephew David Newman.

Memorial donations can be made to Lebanon's Park Street Church of Christ or the Boone County Cancer Society.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, Apr. 15, 2021 for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Everett will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown. In light of Covid-19 and for the safety of all, the family requests that face-masks be worn to the calling and service.
