Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ericka S. Thomas, of Thorntown, Indiana. She passed on Friday, June 14, 2024, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis at 41 years old.

Ericka was born April 30, 1983, in Indianapolis, a daughter of Gerald Bruce Thomas and Roma (Vicars) Thomas. After attending Western Boone High School, Ericka became a mother and bestfriend to Nevaeh Maxwell on August 3, 2009. She was Nevaeh's biggest fan and was happiest watching Nevaeh excel and mostly perform. She also had a love for bowling, music, playing with her cows and floating down the river. Ericka will be remembered for her big heart, goofy personality, spicy attitude, and her overall love for life, family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Nevaeh Maxwell; fiancé, Terry Swaim; father, Gerald (Sheila) Thomas; mother, Roma Thomas; siblings, Alexandria "Alex" Thomas, James "Squeeker" Ramsey, Stephanie Ramsey (Beau) Burtner, Joshua (Robin) Meaney, Eric (Alex) Meaney, and Ashley (Shannon) Meaney; step-children, Regan Swaim and Daulton Fader; dog, Bear; and several nieces and nephews.

Ericka was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Walter "Ernie" Vicars and Brenda "Mom-Mom" Vicars, paternal grandparents Buddy Thomas and Roberta "Bobby Jo" Thomas; paternal uncle Dave Thomas; maternal uncle Texas Vicars; paternal cousins Mark Thomas and Casey Ashton; dog, Pocket; and favorite cow, Tipsy.

A private Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family and friends on July 13, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Weeping Willow tree will be planted in her honor in a cow pasture with her moo moos.

Final care of Ericka has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
