Elizabeth "Susie" Lewis, 77, of Lebanon, died Friday, May 15 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Susie was born in Lebanon on Christmas Eve in 1948, a daughter of the late Robert and Betty Ann (Dickerson) Smith. She graduated from the Lebanon High School and graduated nursing school in 1968. On Christmas Eve in 1968 she married Robert M. "Mike" Lewis at the First Baptist Church in Lebanon, a loving union that lasted over fifty-seven years. Susie worked at the old Witham Hospital, Dr. McAfee's office and retired from IU Health Family Medicine.
Susie enjoyed working in her yard, planting flowers and weeding. She also enjoyed watching humming birds, helping neighbors and making chocolate covered pretzels.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Andrea (Troy) Yoder of Lebanon, April (Kyle) Marsh of Lebanon; sister, Deborah (Larry Skeen) Hook of Lebanon; brother Ron Smith of Lebanon; grandchildren, Kendra Yoder, Abby Yoder, Garrett (Emily) Yoder, Jordan Yoder, Madison (Aaron Blount) Garner, Mackenzie (Baileigh) Garner, Molly Garner and Meredith Garner; great-grandson, Wilder Blount; nephews, Joel McWaters and Sean Lewis and brother-in-law, Steve (Joni) Lewis. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Earl Smith.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, May 21 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer and Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240
