Mr. Donald Keith Caldwell, 88, of Lebanon, died Friday, Jun. 30, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Jun. 16, 1935, in rural Boone County, a son of the late Kenneth Lane and Wanda Fern (Shapley) Caldwell. Don married Juliette Chelf on May 8, 1959, in the Advance Congregational Christian Church. She survives.

Don attended Lindbergh School and graduated from Dover High School. He worked for Raybestos Powertrain in Crawfordsville for 39 years, and was also a farmer. Don loved sports, especially coaching baseball and basketball at the Boys & Girls Club, as well as Little League and Babe Ruth. He was an Elder and Elder Emeritus of the Advance Community Christian Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Juliette Caldwell of Lebanon; children, Kimberly (Troy) Sargent of Ft. Wayne, Donald Keith (Nancy) Caldwell, Jr. of Evansville, and Michael Kent (Deanna) Caldwell of Thorntown; sister, Sandra Horlacher of Thorntown; grandchildren, Lucas (Meghan) White of Gaylord, MI, Levi (Ashley) White of Lebanon, Caitlyn (Ryan) Culley of Lebanon, Cally (Michael) Lawrence of Evansville, and Carson (Blake) Caldwell of Tallahassee, FL, Gina (Nathan) Potter of Fishers, Geoffrey (Madison) Caldwell of Indianapolis, Garrett (Rene) Caldwell of Westfield, Gabby (Aaron) Cline of Lebanon, and Genny Caldwell of Thorntown; and great grandchildren, Roman, Porter, and Lucy White, Lexi White, Lilly, Adelyn and Wyatt Culley, Colt Lawrence, Grayson and Rylon Potter, Eileen and Isaac Caldwell, Easton Cline, and two on the way.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Clem Horlacher.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, Jul. 5, for visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m. in the Advance Community Christian Church, 305 Main St., Advance, IN 46102. Don will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Lebanon. In memory of Don's love for sports, the family would like to invite everyone to wear their favorite sports team or casual attire.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Advance Community Christian Church, the Western Boone Little League, or the American Heart Association.
