David Plough, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026.

He was born August 21, 1934, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, to the late John Wesley and Myrtle (Need) Plough. Dave was the last surviving sibling of 14 brothers and sisters.

After a whirlwind three-week courtship, Dave married Bonnie Lou Miller on July 21, 1956, in Goshen, Indiana. Their marriage lasted nearly 68 years. The couple settled in Zionsville in the mid-1970s and later retired to Lebanon, where they could often be found out and about enjoying their daily “lunch at 11.” Bonnie was the love of his life and more than anything, he was devoted to his family.

Dave was a hardworking, hands-on man who took great pride in a job well done. He worked for Reith-Riley for many years as a paving supervisor, where he supervised the build of the Weir-Cook Airport, the I-65 corridor, and US 36. He was recognized as one of the first individuals in the nation to supervise the paving of one mile per day. After retiring from Reith-Riley, he continued doing what he loved, running Concrete Specialists of Zionsville.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean Campaign and was a 50-year member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter, Kandi (Garry) Horney; grandchildren, Jennifer (Larry) Danaher, Tommy (Lynna) Stewart, Lisa Crew (Scott Disbro), and Jaymie Horney; great-grandchildren, Brittney (George) Jurewicz, Kalvin (Sammantha) Danaher, and Kameron (Raquel) Danaher; great-great-grandson, Daniel; his beloved puppy, Scarlett; his best friend, Dexter Bishop, who was as much family as anyone else; and his favorite waitress, Michelle, for all her help, friendship, and always looking after him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Homewood Health Campus for their extraordinary care and for going above and beyond for Dave and his family.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, no services will be held, and we would like to thank you for keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers. Final care has been entrusted to Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
