Mrs. Brenda Sue "Suzie" Tobin, 68, of Pittsboro, passed away Aug. 6, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Suzie was born Sept. 25, 1949 in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Thorne) Lind. On Aug. 9, 1975 she was married to Mitch Tobin by the Honorable Mayor Bob Campbell.

Suzie graduated in 1967 from Lebanon High School. She received her BS degree from Ball State in Elementary Education and her Master's in Education from IUPUI. She had a life-long commitment to helping at-risk students and began her career by creating a school for troubled youth in Boston, MA. Suzie taught in Lebanon Community School Corp. and was the first Director for the Alternative School program. She was also a loving caregiver for her mother and mother-in-law.

Suzie was very involved in her children's lives and happily opened her home to all her children's friends. She was past president of the LHS Band Boosters, past president of her HOA community, and was a past member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.

Suzie loved to camp and made an "annual pilgrimage" to the Covered Bridge Festival with her friends. She and her husband cherished their time spent in Port Aransas, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Mitch; a daughter, Tracey Guerra of Austin, TX; grandchildren Eva and Liev Guerra; a son, Noah (Todd) Tobin of Boston, MA; and nephews, Russell (Kelli) Lawrence, Jr. of Indianapolis and Charlie (Jennifer) Lawrence of South Bend.   Suzie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sharon Lawrence.

Family and friends will gather Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 for visitation from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
