Obituary

Mrs. Barbara McFarland, 79, of Whitestown, passed away May 5, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Barbara was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Bowling Green, KY, a daughter of the late Vone and Mae Belle (Gott) Smith. She married Ralph McFarland on Sept. 6, 1958. He preceded her in death.

Barbara worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years. She loved quilting, reading, cooking, and gardening. Barbara was a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown.

Survivors include her sons, Shawn McFarland of Indianapolis and Randy (Charlotte) McFarland of AZ; daughters, Cindy Lemoine of Lebanon and Dorothy (Matt) Burney of Whitestown; brother, Jerry "Snuffy" (Alma) Smith of Thorntown; sister, Linda Sue (Dick) Benham of FL; grandchildren, Griffin McFarland, Cody, Luke, and Jessica McFarland, and Blake Burney; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Isla, and Ellie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Smith.

Family and friends will gather Fri., May 10, 2019, for visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. in the New Hope Christian Church, 5780 S.
