Obituary

Mrs. B. Lorraine Phelps, 81, of Noblesville, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Lorraine was born January 5, 1945, in Harlan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Judge Finley and Cornie Daisey (Vaughn) Boggs. She married David Harrel Phelps on January 19, 1963, in Livingston, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1995.

Lorraine had a deep love for the arts and found joy in crafting and making dolls. Her faith was especially important to her, and she cherished her church family. She was a longtime member of Trinity House of Worship - Pentecostal Lighthouse in Noblesville. Proud of her Cherokee heritage, Lorraine was a longtime member of the American Indian Council, where she also served as a photographer for over 30 years. She had a giving heart and was known for her kindness and devotion to caring for others.

Survivors include her sons, David (Roxanne) Phelps and Shawn (Patricia) Phelps; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Catherine Phelps; five brothers; and four sisters.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, April 18, for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Lorraine will be laid to rest at IOOF Cemetery in Jamestown.
