Alva Clayton Hendricks, 88, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed from this life on August 13, 2017, surrounded by family at his home in Lebanon.
Alva was born on November 5, 1928 in Harrison County, IN, the son of the late Alva F. and Mabel (Routh) Hendricks.
He was married to Mary K. (Fisher) Hendricks on June 17, 1948 in Boone County.
After farming for a few years, Alva also worked for Herr Elevator, Pittman-Moore, Borden Dairy, Ulen Country Club, and Tube Forming, Inc.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2012; son Jerry D. Hendricks; grandsons Scott and Bryan Hendricks; and two brothers Earl Hendricks and Harold Hendricks.
Alva is survived by two sons John Hendricks of Indianapolis and Jeffrey (Colleen) Hendricks of Jamestown; one daughter Lori (Dann) Crosby of Roachdale; one daughter-in-law Carole Hendricks of Bedford, PA; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
At age 85, he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ and was re-baptized as a witness to the world of his commitment.
Alva was always a hard worker and a master craftsman, hand making many fine pieces of furniture, which his family will always cherish.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lebanon Church of God in Lebanon, IN (corner of Royal St. and Henry St.). All family and friends are welcome.
