Mary K. Hendricks, 80, of Lebanon, died April 17, 2012 at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon. The daughter of Lester and Pauline Fisher; she was born in Boone County July 10, 1931. Mary attended Sheridan schools and Ivy Tech Nursing School in Indianapolis; she earned her degree in 1968 and worked at Witham Hospital for many years. Mary graduated at the top of her nursing class and received the highest test score on her state board examination for nursing licensure. After retiring she helped several local families in the capacity of nanny for their small children. She continued educating herself by reading books she borrowed from the library and was rarely without multiple books ready to be read. Mary was a lifelong student and her passion for American history having traveled to many historical sites and parks. She passed on her love of visiting historic places of interest to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed doing genealogical research and leaves behind extensive family records for future generations to enjoy. Mary is survived by her husband, Alva C. Hendricks of Lebanon; children, John Hendricks of Indianapolis, Jeff (Colleen) Hendricks of Jamestown, Lori (Dann) Crosby of Roachdale; daughter-in-law Carole Hendricks of Bedford, PA; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; two grandsons and one sister. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N.
